Industries Electronics & components

Electronics, down to the reel. MPNs, alternates and BOMs in one system.

Electronics businesses buy and sell parts that look alike and behave very differently. Dika Ops keeps manufacturer part numbers, reels, lots, alternates and bills of materials together, so a shortage is found before the build starts, not on the line.

The challenge

What slows electronics & components down.

01One part, many numbers

A component has a manufacturer part number (MPN), distributor codes and your own internal code. Staff search by any of them.

02BOM shortages

A single missing passive stops a whole board build. Shortages are often found when the kit is already half picked.

03Alternates and obsolescence

When a part goes end of life or lead times stretch, the approved alternate must be known and used consistently.

04Reels, lots and moisture-sensitive parts

Partial reels, date codes and moisture sensitivity level (MSL) handling need to be recorded to be usable.

01

Component records

Hold the MPN, manufacturer, package and alternates on one product record, and search by any number.

  • MPN and internal code on the same record
  • Alternate parts linked to the primary
  • Datasheets and documents attached

02

Bills of materials

Define each assembly with its reference designators, quantities and approved alternates, with versions under control.

  • Multi-level bills of materials
  • Alternates allowed per line
  • Version changes visible to planning

Reels and lots in stock

Receive by reel or lot, keep date codes and MSL notes, and see what is free after reservations.

  • Lot and date code on receipts
  • Partial reels tracked as quantities
  • Stock lookup by MPN

Shortage-driven purchasing

Turn BOM shortages into purchase orders and compare quotes from several suppliers for the same MPN.

  • Shortages shown before work order release
  • Requests for quotation per part
  • Supplier lead-time history

How it runs

One flow, start to finish.

  1. 01Order

A customer order or forecast creates demand for an assembly or for loose components.

  2. 02BOM check

The bill of materials is exploded and every line is checked against stock and open purchase orders.

  3. 03Buy

Shortages become requests for quotation and purchase orders, using alternates where allowed.

  4. 04Kit and build

Components are issued by lot or reel to the work order and the finished goods are booked.

  5. 05Ship and invoice

The order is shipped and invoiced, with lot records kept for later questions.

FAQ

Electronics & components, answered.

Can one product hold several part numbers?

Yes. You can hold the MPN, distributor codes and your internal code on the same record and search by any of them.

Can we define alternate components?

Yes. Alternates can be linked to a part and allowed on BOM lines, so buyers and planners see the same options.

Do we see BOM shortages before a build?

Yes. Planning checks each bill of materials against stock and incoming orders, and shows the missing lines before release.

Can we track lots and date codes?

Receipts and shipments can carry lot numbers, so you can find where a given lot went.
